Another installment of Gerald and Piggie。 This time they meet a new friend snake who wants to play catch with them。 Since he doesn't have arms, they're not sure how things will go, but they will certainly try。Classic problem solving from Gerald and Piggie that can also spark great conversation about how the reader thinks a snake could catch a ball。 Another installment of Gerald and Piggie。 This time they meet a new friend snake who wants to play catch with them。 Since he doesn't have arms, they're not sure how things will go, but they will certainly try。Classic problem solving from Gerald and Piggie that can also spark great conversation about how the reader thinks a snake could catch a ball。 。。。more

My son is on a Mo Willems kick and has been reading this series almost on his own。 Elephant & Piggie are amazing books for early readers and often have a moral to reflect on as well。

I am a huge Elephant and Piggie fan and this book did not disappoint。 In addition to the format of the book being ideal for beggining readers the lesson on friendship and thinking outside the box in this book is perfect for young readers。

What a sassy snake。

Summary:This book is about an elephant and a pig wanting to play catch。 It starts with them just sitting by each other when the pig has the idea to play catch。 When they are just about to start playing catch, a snake comes up and asks if he can play。 The elephant and pig seem hesitant to let him join because they are not sure if he can play catch。 They begin trying to figure out ways to let the snake play, and eventually, they figure out a way to let him play with them。 Analysis:I think this boo Summary:This book is about an elephant and a pig wanting to play catch。 It starts with them just sitting by each other when the pig has the idea to play catch。 When they are just about to start playing catch, a snake comes up and asks if he can play。 The elephant and pig seem hesitant to let him join because they are not sure if he can play catch。 They begin trying to figure out ways to let the snake play, and eventually, they figure out a way to let him play with them。 Analysis:I think this book was extremely sweet。 It showed the power of friendship and including people even when they are different。 I like how it is written as if the characters are talking to each other and that there are not words otherwise。 I also think the art is sweet and simple, not drawing away from the point of the story。 Classroom ideas:I think this can be used in a classroom to express that with creativity, everyone can be included in an activity。 There is not a reason to leave people out。 I also think this can be used as just a fun read for children to see imagination expressed through a book with fun animal characters。 。。。more

Snake can't play ball because he has no arms。 They solve the problem by using the snake as a ball。 Meant to be encouraging of diversity but problematic for people who have disabilities。 Snake can't play ball because he has no arms。 They solve the problem by using the snake as a ball。 Meant to be encouraging of diversity but problematic for people who have disabilities。 。。。more

OMG! This one is my favorite, it’s going to be my go to kid gift! I read it to my child, while talking to my sister via video chat。 This book had us laughing so hard I was crying。 All that aside there is a message to be heard, even if Gerald and Piggie seem like little jerks, kids in real life can be jerks even if they mean well。 Elephant and Piggie are great fundamental books for children of all ages。 It is key children learn to be accepting of others and learn how to problem solve to include o OMG! This is a great one to help introduce problem solving

When a snake asks to join their game of catch, Gerald and Piggie are perplexed。This story introduces the idea of making accommodations for someone with a disability or special need。 It also cautions against too rigid thinking。This beginning reader tells a funny story using simple vocabulary, sight words, and an easy to follow plot。

This book is so fun and useful to teach students that it is important to respect and treat our friends the way we would like to be treated。 This book also teaches students on how to be a good friend by finding ways to include our friends in the things we like to do。 This is a book that I could personally see myself reading to my class。

Can I Play Too? (Elephant & Piggie, #12) by Mo Willems is a great picture book that includes typography。 What kind of adventure will Elephant and Piggie get into this time? I appreciated the humor while showing kids how important it is to be inclusive in who you play with, even if it doesn't go perfectly the first time。 My preschooler and kindergartener liked it。 I appreciated the humor while showing kids how important it is to be inclusive in who you play with, even if it doesn't go perfectly the first time。 My preschooler and kindergartener liked it。 。。。more

Elephant and Piggie are playing catch。 Snake comes along and wants to play too, but how do catch without any arms? You don’t。 You become the ball instead!!!!This was so adorable! I loved it!I loved the part where snake pretended to freak out because he didn’t have arms! That was hilarious! Way to own it snake。 He did something really unexpected and funny and it provided a lot of comic relief to the awkward predicament they were in。 In the end they all worked towards a solution after many fails, Elephant and Piggie are playing catch。 Snake comes along and wants to play too, but how do catch without any arms?
